Licenses Needed to Coach in Wisconsin Youth Soccer
Coaches in Wisconsin are required to have completed one grassroots course OR have one Y1 or Y2 certificate. ​

Coaches working with Youth Academy teams are required to have completed a combination of 2 In-Person Grassroots modules, recommended 4v4, 7v7 OR hold a US Soccer ‘E’ License.

Coaches of 11U through 18U Classic teams are required to have completed 2 In-Person Grassroots Modules, one must be 9v9 or 11v11 OR hold a US Soccer ‘E’ License.

Coaches working with 12U – 14U Competitive and State League teams are required to have completed 2 In-Person Grassroots Modules, one must be 9v9 or 11v11 OR hold a US Soccer ‘E’ License.

Coaches of 15U and older State League teams are required to have the US Soccer ‘D’ License.

Grassroots: In-person Grassroots courses are presented in one of two ways, a blended format of a virtual classroom session followed by an on-field component or an all in-person format (4v4; 7v7; 9v9; 11v11).
D License: Nurturing beginners and intermediates in soccer involves creating a participation-focused environment that emphasizes enjoyment and development. The U.S. Soccer D License is designed for coaches working with teams from U6 to U19, where players are typically beginners to intermediates.

C License: Advancing with Commitment. To be eligible for the C License, you must have held a D License for at least one year and be currently coaching. This license is designed to prepare you to work with teams from U11-U19, with a higher level of commitment and skill.

B License: Coaching Intermediates with Depth. Holding a C License is a stepping stone to the B License, which requires an additional year of experience with the C License and at least three years of coaching experience
